Moray-Based Family Company Thrives by Feeding UK’s Growing Hunger for Meatless Options
Moray – In recognition of its outstanding efforts to provide consumers with healthy, humane alternatives to meat-packed products, Baxters Food Group has won an award from PETA Europe. The company has been named the winner in the Best Vegan Convenience Food category in PETA’s second annual Proggy Awards for its tasty Carrot & Butter Bean Soup. Baxters will receive a framed award and will be featured on PETA.org.uk. “Proggy” stands for “progress”, and the Proggy Awards recognise animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture.
A delectable combination of carrots and butter beans in a light and fragrant vegetable broth, this super soup – paired with a piece of crusty bread – is the perfect lunch. Other Baxters soups worth getting your spoon in are the Autumn Vegetable Soup; the Carrot, Onion & Chick Pea Soup; the Italian Bean & Pasta Soup; and the hearty Mediterranean Tomato Soup. Baxters also has a sweet side. The company’s Mango With Ginger Chutney, Spiced Fruit Chutney, Cranberry Jelly, Cranberry Sauce, Mint Jelly, Mint Sauce, Blackcurrant Conserve, Raspberry Conserve, Rhubarb & Ginger Conserve, Strawberry Conserve, Albert’s Victorian Chutney, and Orange, Lemon & Grapefruit Marmalade are all widely available and delicious. These preserves can be found along with Baxters’ soups at nearly all leading supermarkets.
“Baxters is helping to change the way Britons eat for the better”, says PETA Europe’s Sarah Dickinson. “The growing demand for the company’s line of delicious vegan products is proof-positive that what’s good for your health and for animals is also good for the bottom line.”
More than 25 Proggy Awards have been given out this year, and the winners include a multi-national pizza chain, a city council, and independent producers and marketers of vegan foods and cruelty-free personal care products.
