Princess Kate to Receive First-Ever Vegan UGG Boots, Courtesy of PETA

London – As the first-ever vegan UGGs hit the stores, PETA sent the princess of Wales – who has been known to sport the brand – a pair of the new ultra-comfortable cruelty-free boots. In an enclosed letter, the group notes the versatility of the footwear, which is made from sugarcane, TENCEL, and recycled polyester microfibre, and wished her royal highness a speedy recovery following her recent chemotherapy treatment.

“These stylish boots are perfect for gardening, taking leisurely walks, or curling up on the sofa, and best of all, they spare sheep a lifetime of suffering,” says PETA Vice President of Programmes and Operations Elisa Allen. “PETA hopes Princess Kate will enjoy wearing these beautiful, stylish boots during this period of rest and reflection knowing they are kind to animals and the planet.”
PETA entities’ investigations have uncovered cruelty to sheep at over 100 wool-industry operations worldwide – even on self-proclaimed “responsible” farms – where shearers have been seen punching, stamping on, and kicking sheep. When a sheep’s wool production slows, they’re sent to slaughter. Wool is also devastating to the environment – sheep are second only to cows in the global production of methane, which is 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide in warming the planet.
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear” – opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org.uk or follow the group on Facebook, X, TikTok, or Instagram.
