Fleetwood Man Crowned PETA’s ‘Most Beautiful Vegan Over 50’
Karl Fogg Awarded Vegan Tasting Menu for Two at Top London Restaurant Gauthier Soho
Fleetwood – An impressive combination of dedication, animal activism, and compassion – not to mention a massive number of votes – has secured Karl Fogg, 56, the title in PETA’s UK and Ireland’s Most Beautiful Vegan Over 50 Competition. Fogg will receive an award-winning “Les Plantes” vegan tasting menu for two at top London restaurant Gauthier Soho.
A self-proclaimed foodie with a heart for animals, Fogg is the family chef and started dabbling in cooking meat-free dishes after his daughter became vegetarian. He is now working on a vegan cookbook and mentors new vegans.
Images of Fogg are available here, here, here, and here.
“Karl is an informed, enthusiastic animal advocate whose voice and vigour are only growing,” says PETA Director Elisa Allen. “PETA encourages everyone inspired by his kindness and vitality to follow his lead and give going vegan a try.”
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” – notes that COVID-19 originated in a “wet market”, where live and dead animals were sold for human consumption. Deadly outbreaks of swine flu, avian flu, SARS, HIV, foot-and-mouth disease, mad cow disease, and other zoonotic diseases have stemmed from capturing wild animals or farming animals for food.
In addition to each saving the lives of nearly 200 animals every year, people who go vegan could very well be extending their own lives, too, as vegans are less prone to suffering from heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity and are, on average, fitter and trimmer than meat-eaters are.
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview – offers a free vegan starter kit, available here, full of recipes, tips, and more.
Fogg is available for interviews. For more information, please visit PETA.org.uk.
