Dublin Firefighters Receive PETA Award for Rescuing Biscuit the Cat
Dublin – In recognition of their bravery in saving the life of Biscuit the cat, crew members from the Dublin Fire Brigade have received a Hero to Animals award from animal protection organisation PETA. According to reports, crew members from D Watch, Dolphin’s Barn Fire Station rescued Biscuit from a burning house in Ballyfermot. He was found unconscious and given oxygen by the crew and made a full recovery. The fire station has confirmed that the heart-warming rescue was a team effort and that the award was gratefully received.

“Thanks to these firefighters’ heroic actions, what could have been a tragedy for Biscuit had a happy ending,” says PETA Vice President of Programmes Elisa Allen. “We hope their compassionate deed will inspire others to help animals in need.”
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way” – reminds all animal guardians to have an emergency plan for their animal companions, including having carriers ready to grab in case of fires or other emergencies. Animal guardians can also post signs on their doors or windows to alert rescue workers to the presence of dogs, cats, and other animal companions in the home.
