Doncaster – As part of its Sexiest Vegetarian in Europe contest, PETA has been searching for the continent’s cutest and most compassionate people. Doncaster resident Paul Mollitt has beaten  hundreds of entrants from across Europe to become one of just four remaining male finalists.

Sixteen years ago, Paul’s experience growing up next to a farm led him to swear off meat. “I would spend time with the animals, making friends with them, only to be horrified when I eventually realised they were killed for the food on my plate”, he explains. Now, when the talented musician and actor isn’t performing on the West End or touring with shows like Mamma Mia, Fame and Starlight Express, he is a foster guardian for homeless cats.

“On average, vegetarians are healthier and have more energy than meat-eaters – and that makes them sexier too”, says PETA Special Projects Coordinator Abi Izzard. “One look at our radiant line-up of compassionate, sexy vegetarian finalists and it’s clear that they’re all winners.”

PETA will determine the two winners – one male and one female – based on the finalists’ popularity with voters, their commitment to the animal rights cause and, of course, how hot they are! The winners will each receive a bundle of prizes from some of the UK’s top ethical companies – such as The Throw Company, Vintage Roots, The Redwood Wholefood Company, Bulldog and Bourgeois Bohème – after they are announced on 26 September.
