‘COP27 Is a Cop Out!’ PETA Asia Lettuce Ladies Blast Meaty Menu
London – Back by popular demand, today, PETA Asia’s scantily clad “lettuce ladies” bared skin and laid bare the hypocrisy of serving meat, dairy, and other planet-killing foods at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27). According to the UN’s own recommendations, going vegan is necessary if we are to avoid the worst effects of the climate catastrophe, since animal agriculture is responsible for nearly one-fifth of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions.

“You can’t speak seriously about saving the planet in between bites of beef,” says PETA Vice President Mimi Bekhechi. “Double standards are on full display at COP27, so we demand that the UN go vegan or go home.”
PETA notes that research from the University of Oxford has found that going vegan is the single biggest step individuals can take to combat climate change. Animal agriculture is a leading cause of the climate crisis, generating more greenhouse-gas emissions than the entire transportation sector combined, by some estimates. In addition to their devastating environmental impact, the meat and dairy industries also subject millions of animals to the horrors of factory farming, including painful mutilations, being separated from their families, and being violently killed at abattoirs.
PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview – offers a free vegan starter kit on its website. For more information, please visit PETA.org.uk or follow the group on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
