St. Moritz — With their nude bodies painted like exotic leopards, German, Canadian, and Italian PETA members will heat up the ice at the Gourmet Festival, as they march waving a banner that reads, “Only Animals Should Wear Fur.”
Date: Saturday, 6th February
Time: 11:00 am
Place: outside the Gourmet Marquee on the lake
The nude women plan to show greedy fur wearers what natural beauty is all about. “By showing some of our skin, we hope to save animals’ skins”, says stripper Toni Vernelli.
PETA’s anti-fur campaign has kept fur sales cold by keeping consumers focused on the fact that fur-bearing animals are trapped, drowned, or beaten to death in the wild and gassed, stangled or electrocuted on fur farms. Pelts obtained in North America using the barbaric leg-hold trap are still shipped to Switzerland.
PETA’s “Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign, which infuriates furriers, has made headlines worldwide with protestors marching “au naturel” for animals in Tokyo, Montreal, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, New York and Moscow.
Broadcast quality footage of animals on fur farms is available.
