Vegan Joan Jett’s Life Story Hits Cinema Screens
There’s a lot to love about Joan Jett! It’s not just the fact that her music is amazing or that she’s led a legendary rock-and-roll life, which is now the subject of a major film, The Runaways, starring Twilight’s Kristen Stewart. Nope, the coolest thing about this iconic frontwoman is that she’s been a vegetarian for 20-plus years and that she never misses an opportunity to tell others why she refuses to eat meat and why they should too!
A big PETA US supporter who has starred in a vegetarian testimonial for the group, Joan recently took to the streets of Manhattan to hand out vegetarian/vegan starter kits (get PETA UK’s starter kit here) to New Yorkers.
“If there’s anything I love more than rock and roll, it’s animals”, says Jett. “And when I learned how animals on factory farms are treated, I gave beef the boot and stopped eating pigs, chickens and fish too. Cutting meat out of your diet is the best thing you can do for animals and your own health.”
The Runaways opens on 10 September in the UK.
