PETA has urged Greek officials to end animal rides amid soaring 40˚C temperatures to help prevent heatstroke and fatalities in equines forced to work in extreme heat.

Newly released footage from PETA Germany shows that donkeys and mules with untreated wounds are kept on short chains in the sun and denied food and water in Santorini.

While temperatures are still soaring in Santorini, a pack of PETA supporters in donkey masks gathered outside the Embassy of Greece in London to protest the island’s cruel mule and donkey rides.
