Sharon Osbourne Exposes Cruel Chinchilla Fur Trade
From starring in the popular reality TV show The Osbournes to howling with laughter with Louis Walsh on The X Factor, Sharon Osbourne has never been one to shy away from expressing her opinion. Now, she’s taking a stand against the cruel chinchilla fur trade with PETA US.
In spite of once wearing fur, Sharon has since sworn off the stuff after realising that each purchase costs animals their lives.
Chinchillas are sensitive, intelligent animals who can live for up to 15 years in the wild, but when raised on fur farms, they’re deprived of everything natural and meaningful to them. They live in filthy, crowded cages for their entire lives before either their necks are broken or they’re electrocuted. “Toe-to-ear” electrocution immobilises chinchillas but leaves them conscious as they experience all the pain of a full-blown heart attack.
Around 80,000 chinchillas are farmed for fur across Europe, and many more are globally. Please, don’t support this cruel industry! Never buy items made from real fur, and speak out against retailers that sell it.
