What Did PETA Send the Queen for Her Birthday?
In honour of the Queen’s 94th birthday on 21 April – and because she’s reportedly been known to indulge in Fray Bentos pies during flights – PETA is sending Her Majesty one of the company’s new vegan steak and kidney bean pies.
The PETA Vegan Food Award–winning pie (available from Tesco) features pieces of meat-free steak and kidney beans covered with a savoury gravy inside the brand’s signature flaky crust.
Whip out your tin opener, whack the pie in the oven, and in just 25 minutes (or about eight back-to-back renditions of “God Save the Queen”), you’ll be tucking into your new favourite lockdown meal.
Suitable for royalty and commoners alike, the vegan pie is better for the planet, kind to animals, and delicious.
Why Vegan?
In today’s meat, egg, dairy, and fishing industries, cows are forcibly separated from their beloved calves, chickens’ throats are cut while they’re still conscious, piglets’ tails may be docked without painkillers, and fish are cut open while they’re still alive.
Animals like chickens, pigs, and cows feel pain and fear, have unique personalities, and value their own lives, just as humans do, and the best way to help them is by adopting a compassionate vegan lifestyle.
