PETA’s ‘Dinosaurs’ Call On Londoners to Go Vegan in 2023
A stampede of PETA supporters in dinosaur costumes stomped through Central London today with an urgent message: the consumption of meat, eggs, and dairy is a remnant of the prehistoric era! It’s 2023 – time to evolve and go vegan.
Starting at St Paul’s Cathedral, the “dinosaurs” roared their way across Millennium Bridge in inflatable costumes before gathering at Shakespeare’s Globe to raise awareness of PETA’s “Veganuary” push for everyone to go vegan in 2023 – for January and beyond.
What Is Veganuary?
Veganuary is an annual global campaign that promotes going vegan for the month of January to help animals, slash greenhouse gas emissions, and boost your personal health.
Evolve and Go Vegan
Those who stay vegan all year will spare nearly 200 animals a miserable life and a terrifying death. Pigs, chickens, cows, and other animals exploited in the meat, egg, and dairy industries are often crammed into filthy, windowless sheds where they spend the majority of their lives without sunlight or fresh air. Chickens’ lungs are often burned by breathing the ammonia in the air, piglets’ tails are cut off without painkillers, and cows’ udders become painfully inflamed due to milking.
The meat, dairy, egg, and fishing industries are also a nightmare for the environment, as they’re collectively responsible for nearly a fifth of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions. The United Nations states that urgent and unprecedented changes – including a shift to a plant-based diet – is vital to limit the damage caused by climate change.
Many vegan foods are rich in plant-based protein, which doesn’t have the health hazards of animal-derived protein. Eating processed meat increases our chances of developing cancer, and research suggests that consuming animals’ flesh, eggs, and milk could be as detrimental to our health as smoking cigarettes.
