The UK’s Best Vegan Cupcakes
“I don’t like cupcakes.”
– No one, ever
With National Cupcake Week just around the corner, we’ve picked some vegan cupcakes across the UK for you to get your mitts on.
LOLA’s Cupcakes, London, Oxford and Bluewater
You might have spotted these mouth-watering cupcakes first at Old Spitalfields Market or while dashing through King’s Cross St Pancras underground station. In passionfruit, strawberry and chocolate choices, each cupcake uses the perfect combination of soya yogurt and vegan butter, to create soft and flavoursome sponges! These are then decorated with vegan buttercream and topped off a choice of fresh passionfruit, strawberry or vegan chocolate shavings.

Ms Cupcake, London
Brixton-based Ms Cupcake was London’s first entirely vegan bakery. Open seven days a week, the bakery crafts decadent cakes for every need, with gluten-free options if required. If you fancy spending a leisurely lunch catching up with old friends here, Ms Cupcake also has plenty of vegan sandwiches and savoury treats.
The Den at 23, Colchester
Colchester’s first and only vegan café, The Den at 23 serves up some truly indulgent cupcakes from renowned vegan bakery ps…it’s vegan! Open on Monday 12 to 4 pm and Tuesday to Saturday 10 am to 4 pm, The Den serves up hot breakfast and lunch options which you can wash down with a number of creamy, dairy-free coffees.
The Spotless Leopard, Bristol
Run from a humble van, The Spotless Leopard offers an authentic West Country dining experience. It serves a variety of different vegan options each day, sourced from local, ethical ingredients, and will always have a few vegan cakes on offer, too, so you can finish on a sweet note.
Black Pepper Bakery, Brighton
For home delivery in the Brighton and Hove area (and the occasional market stall, if you get lucky), Black Pepper Bakery is a place you need to know about. The mouth-watering vegan cupcakes are an art form of their own, baked with elaborate decorations and distinctive flavours, including Mulled Wine Spices.
Ruby’s love for vegan baking began at an early age, when her childhood dairy and egg allergies led her to get creative in the kitchen. From the humble beginnings of a Greenwich Market stall, her cupcake business grew quickly, and she now delivers across Greater London. She specialises in a variety of special dietary requirements, including products free from gluten and refined sugar.
Missy’s Vegan Cupcakes, Edinburgh
At Edinburgh’s Grassmarket, Missy’s promotes a vegan lifestyle with innovative cruelty-free cupcakes. Flavours include toasted marshmallow and Oreo cheesecake, so we’re sure you’ll end up spending a fair chunk of time ogling the cupcakes while just trying to come to a decision. Life is hard, after all!
