Lucie Donlan Slams SeaWorld in New PETA Campaign
Paddling on a surfboard in the open ocean, Love Island star and avid surfer Lucie Donlan appears in a new PETA ad. She’s imploring her fans to steer clear of SeaWorld, which imprisons far-ranging marine mammals in cramped tanks when they should be swimming free.
“I love the open ocean and the animals who live in it – that’s why I’m teaming up with PETA to speak up for orcas and other dolphins who are suffering in captivity.
While surfing, I’ve been lucky enough to see these animals in their natural habitat – where they belong – and it’s a far cry from the miserable lives they lead in marine parks, where they’re confined to cramped concrete tanks, deprived of everything that’s natural and important to them.” – Lucie Donlan
Lucie joins a long list of celebrities – including Gemma Collins, Amanda Holden, Sharon Osbourne, Noah Cyrus, Charlotte Crosby, Paul O’Grady, and the late Sir Roger Moore – who have teamed up with PETA and our international affiliates to speak out against marine-mammal captivity.
Captivity Is Cruel
In nature, orcas and bottlenose dolphins swim long distances, dive to depths far below the ocean’s surface, and enjoy strong, meaningful relationships within large social networks. But at SeaWorld’s parks, 140 dolphins are squeezed into just seven small tanks, in which they can’t escape attacks from other frustrated, aggressive dolphins.
Lucie calls on people to spare animals a life in captivity:
“I urge everyone to join me in steering clear of marine abusement parks like SeaWorld.”
Will You Help Dolphins?
TUI is still selling tickets to SeaWorld’s watery prisons. If you haven’t already done so, please urge the travel provider to stop profiting from dolphins’ misery:
