In honour of World Environment Day, we’ve plastered this message on 38 billboards across Manchester city centre. If you’re in the area, have you spotted any yet?

Why Manchester?
Manchester is one of the UK’s most eco-friendly locales and the green jobs capital of the UK. We hope our plea will support Manchester City Council, which recently spent nearly £30,000 on adverts encouraging residents to make eco-friendly lifestyle changes, in its bid to spread the word about ways to tackle the climate catastrophe.
Why Vegan?
Eating meat, eggs, and dairy while claiming to care about the Earth is like pouring petrol on a fire that’s burning down your house and complaining about the smoke. Everyone can take personal responsibility for the climate catastrophe by going vegan. PETA offers a free vegan starter kit to help those looking to make the switch:
The United Nations states that animal agriculture is responsible for nearly a fifth of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions and that raising animals for food is “one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global”.
You don’t have to wait for the government to take action. Please, go vegan today. It will make a world of difference for the planet – widespread adoption of vegan eating could cut global greenhouse gas emissions by 70% by 2050.
Most importantly, you’ll be saving lives. Cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, and fish have feelings, thoughts, and personalities, just as we do. Yet the meat, egg, dairy, and fishing industries treat them like commodities – and the cruelty is hard to swallow.
