PETA Names Orphaned Rabbits After Chiara Ferragni in Bid to Inspire Change of Heart

London – Mother’s Day in Italy falls on 14 May, and PETA has named rescued brother-and-sister rabbits Chi and Fer after Italian influencer and mother Chiara Ferragni. The sweet pair were abandoned at Hillside Animal Sanctuary, where they will now be provided with the love, care, and attention they deserve.

“We hope this Mother’s Day gift will inspire long-time fur-wearer Ferragni to make the connection that every animal is someone with a family and loved ones, not a fur coat like the ones she wears and promotes,” says PETA Vice President of Programmes Elisa Allen. “With so many stylish vegan options available today, there’s no excuse to wear the skin of animals.”

In a letter to the social media star, PETA has also offered to take her old furs and put them to good use as bedding for orphaned rabbits.

Every year, millions of animals are killed for their fur. PETA exposés into the fur trade have revealed rabbits being pulled by their ears, bludgeoned with metal pipes, hung upside down, and decapitated in full view of other rabbits. Animals in the fur trade often spend their lives in cramped, filthy cages, are deprived of everything that is natural and important to them, and are subjected to starvation and neglect.
