It’s Corn! PETA Germany and Italian Brand Miomojo Launch Line of Vegan Handbags
To help meet the soaring demand for eco-friendly vegan accessories, PETA Germany has teamed up with “PETA-Approved Vegan” Italian handbag brand Miomojo to launch an animal-free collection of handbags made from corn leather – a sustainable, plant-based material derived from non–food grade, GMO-free corn.
The bags are available in colours including black, lake stream, and ash rose and feature detachable handles and gold-tone metal detailing as well as a lining made from recycled plastic bottles. What’s more, 20% of the proceeds will go towards PETA Germany’s work to promote the right of all animals to live free from exploitation.
This handbag collection proves that choosing stylish designs that don’t involve cruelty to animals is easier than ever. PETA Germany is excited to team up with Miomojo to champion vegan leather innovation and promote a kinder future in fashion.
Miomojo bags save lives twice. First, because they leave the animals’ skin right where it belongs – on the animals. Second, because they support animals in need, giving back to PETA.

What’s Wrong With Leather?
Over 1 billion animals are killed for leather every year. PETA exposés have revealed that cows endure castration, branding, and tail-docking, all without painkillers. At abattoirs, their legs are bound and their throats are slit with blunt knives, and some are even skinned while still conscious.
In addition to sparing animals immense suffering and a violent death, vegan leather has a smaller carbon footprint than animal-derived materials, as animal agriculture – which includes the leather industry – is one of the leading contributors to the climate catastrophe.
What You Can Do
