Hear Ye, Hear Ye! A Vegan Revolution Is Needed at the Fair

Evesham – Ahead of Evesham’s Medieval Market, PETA is in talks with outdoor advertisers to place its billboard reading “Thee Can Liveth Without Mine Own Legs. I Cannot. Go Vegan Forthwith!” in the area.

“Protecting animals, the Earth, and even your arteries is as easy as forsaking ye old chicken leg in favour of tasty plant foods,” says PETA Vice President of Programmes Elisa Allen. “PETA is calling on all the lords, ladies, and gentlepeople of the Medieval Market to treat animals with more kindness than they received during the Dark Ages.”

PETA notes that chickens can live as long as 15 years but those raised for food are slaughtered when they’re only 45 days old. The young birds are hung by their feet from metal shackles and dragged through an electrified bath that can cause them to have full-body tremors. They’re often still conscious when their throats are slit and they’re dumped into scalding-hot water to remove their feathers.

In addition to sparing nearly 200 animals every year, each person who goes vegan reduces their risk of suffering from heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity; helps fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and even helps prevent future pandemics.

PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview – offers a free vegan starter kit full of recipes fit for any king or queen.
