Rosanna Davison’s Heartfelt Appeal for Irish Cows

Rosanna Davison EtcIrish beauty, TV star, former Miss World and daughter of iconic singer Chris de Burgh, Rosanna Davison can now add a new title to her list of accolades – advocate for animals. The long-time vegan has just appealed to Ireland’s Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney, to end Ireland’s cruel export of live animals.

Rosanna may be accustomed to the jet-setting lifestyle, but there’s one type of international travel that she’s dead against: transporting frightened cows from Waterford to Tripoli in a gruelling and highly stressful 10-day boat trip to a Libyan abattoir. Cruel practices, such as slashing the tendons in cows’ legs, poking them in the eyes and killing them with blunt knives without stunning them first, have been documented in North African abattoirs, and there is no way that the Irish government can guarantee these animals’ welfare once they leave Irish soil.

Along with almost 10,000 compassionate PETA supporters, Rosanna has expressed her disappointment that Ireland has resumed live export after 19 years. “My family and friends as well as the vast majority of the Irish public stand firmly against the live-export trade”, she writes to the minister. “Please do everything in your power to stop these dreadful voyages.”

You can take action against cruel live export, too! Please send a message to the Minister, Simon Coveney today. It would make a world of difference to Rosanna and to animals who do not deserve this suffering and abuse. Take Action Now Image: Fionn Kidney / CC BY 2.0
