Go Solo
- Bake sale: Embrace your inner domestic god or goddess, don your pinny, and get your baked goods selling like hotcakes, quite literally.
- Buy or sell through eBay for Charity: Bit of a wheeler-dealer? Then this’ll be easy money. Visit https://www.charity.ebay.co.uk/, choose PETA Foundation, and get your hustle on.
- Do a cold-water swim: Willing to take the icy plunge? Get that endorphin high from raising awareness of the cruelty of cetacean captivity while braving a winter outdoor swim.
- Dye your hair: It’s time to take your hair day from bad … to worse. Hint: Purple is the colour of the animal rights movement.
- Livestream gaming on Twitch: What better excuse for a gaming marathon than raising money for animals? Simply link your Twitch account to your JustGiving page. For more information, visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ideas/gaming/livestreaming.
- Shave your head: Make a bald statement about the exploitation of animals for wool, angora, cashmere, fur, and other cruelly obtained materials. Have people bid to do the honours.
- Quit something: Anything at all – think chocolate, smoking, alcohol … or if you haven’t already, all animal-derived products!
- Shop with Give As You Live: Shop with giveasyoulive.com, select People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Foundation as your chosen charity, and the platform will donate a percentage of the proceeds of your purchases to PETA at no extra cost to you. It’s the perfect reason to be generous with your gift-giving this year.
- Use your birthday to help animals: Celebrate in style this year by making a difference for animals. It’s really easy – and the best part is that everything is available through your Facebook or Instagram account. Create your fundraising page on Facebook or on Instagram and select PETA UK as your chosen charity.
Get Social
- Concert: Are you and/or your friends musically talented? Blow your own trumpet and play a sell-out gig or host a jam session in exchange for donations.
- Dinner party: Astound your friends and family with your culinary craft. Invite them to a homemade, gourmet vegan banquet in exchange for a small contribution.
- Film screening: Choose from the abundance of brilliant documentaries and other films with strong animal rights messages – the hard part will be picking just one. We suggest Blackfish, Okja, The Game Changers, Land of Hope and Glory, What the Health, Cowspiracy, Dominion, Earthlings … you get the idea.
- Games night: A games night is always a winner – whether it’s at your local pub, bar, town hall or your home. See if any vegan, cruelty-free companies will donate some prizes for the winners.
- Throw a party: Social butterflies, have a whale of a time with a party benefiting animals. Have guests dress up as their favourite animal to raise awareness of their exploitation.
- Vegan ice cream party: Undoubtedly the most temptingly tantalising suggestion on the list – show your friends just how good vegan ice cream really is by inviting them to chill out at your ice cream party.
- Pub quiz: Pick a theme (e.g. animals), or test your friends’ general knowledge. Branch out and host it in your local pub, a bar, your workplace, or your sports club.
- Raffle: Ask companies to donate vegan and cruelty-free products as prizes, then hand out tickets in exchange for donations. Pick the winners at random.
- Sponsored silence: Enough said.
- Stand-up comedy: Class clown turned comedy genius? This might be your big break. If you’re feeling confident, accept donations after the show. If not, charge an entry fee – better safe than sorry …
- Sweepstakes: Have participants guess something – such as the time you’ll take to finish a race, the results of a sports competition like Wimbledon or a world cup, or the number of vegan sweets in a jar – and set a price for each entry (e.g. £5). Try to wangle some free vegan, cruelty-free products from local businesses as prizes.
- Wax it: Outraged by the live plucking of animals for their fur or feathers? If you are daring, are hairy, and want to do something scary, have your friends pay to watch you suffer, all while raising awareness of these horrendous industries.
- Yogathon: Do you know your downward dog from your crow? If so, organise a class and use the proceeds to help the very animals who inspired your finest yoga moves.
- Zumbathon: Don your Lycra, leg warmers, and sweatbands and shake it ’til you drop. Zumba is fast-paced, fun, and fabulous, so get your groove on for animals.
