Video: ‘Duckface’ Anna Chancellor Urges the Public to Swear Off Foie Gras This Christmas
As Christmas draws near, there’s one thing that Anna Chancellor wants everyone to keep off their dinner table: foie gras.
During its production, ducks and geese are force-fed several times a day for weeks, until their livers become diseased and swell to up to 10 times their normal size – a process so inhumane that it’s illegal in the UK.
The birds are often left to languish inside tiny cages or pens, coated in dirt or vomit and covered with sores. Once their livers are completely swollen, they’re slaughtered, and the fatty, diseased organ is sold as foie gras. Anna concludes:
“The scientific consensus is absolutely clear: it’s impossible to produce foie gras humanely. So this festive season, please join me in extending peace and goodwill to ducks and geese by saying, ‘F*** off!’ to foie gras.”
Please help spare ducks and geese the torment of force-feeding for foie gras by refusing to buy, serve, or eat the vile pâté. If you see that a restaurant is serving it, please take action by letting the management know why the diseased livers of abused birds should never be found on the menu:
