Lewis Hamilton Is on a Vegan Mission

After hearing that Lewis Hamilton is on a mission to switch to a vegan diet for reasons of “[a]nimal cruelty, global warming and our personal health”, PETA has sent the Formula 1 driver a delicious vegan hamper to help him off the grid.

Lewis once declared that he makes a “mean chicken fajita”, so we’ve included vegan chicken pieces, Cheddar-style grated vegan cheese, and other vegan Mexican staples. PETA founder and avid Formula 1 fan Ingrid Newkirk said:

With so many vegan foods on track to beat the competition, eating meat, eggs, and dairy “products” is like having a flat on race-day. A vegan diet is a winning formula for animals, the environment, and our health.

In today’s meat, egg, and dairy industries, animals are typically crammed by the thousands into filthy sheds, torn away from their families, denied proper veterinary care, and mutilated. In addition to sparing them daily suffering and a terrifying death, vegan meals are “greener”, as the United Nations has said that a move towards a vegan diet is necessary to offset the worst effects of climate change. Vegans are also less likely to suffer from heart disease, strokes, diabetes, obesity, and cancer than meat-eaters are.

Interest in vegan living is at an all-time high: an Opinium poll commissioned by PETA found that 76 per cent of British 18- to 34-year-olds are interested in trying more plant-based foods – which include everything from faux foie gras to vegan chicken fajitas. Join Lewis and thousands of others in giving it a try.
