Vegan Billboard to Circle Surrey’s The Big Meat Festival With an Important Message
PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk is seen naked and hanging from a meat hook between the bodies of slaughtered pigs in a striking new ad.
The billboard is to be displayed on a van that will circle The Big Meat festival this weekend with an important message for festivalgoers: “We’re All the Same. Go Vegan.”
Farmed animals have feelings, thoughts, and personalities, just as we do, yet the livestock industry treats them like machines to produce cheap meat and dairy “products”. Animals can be kept in filthy and severely crowded conditions, and often when they’re only a few months old, they endure a stressful and terrifying trip to the abattoir, where many are killed while still conscious. As Ingrid says, most people would be horrified if they knew how the animals are treated:
“If most people stood inside a slaughterhouse, as I’ve done, and watched life after life being violently snuffed out, they’d lose their appetite.”
Not eating meat is the simplest way to save animals’ lives – and to reject the daily cruelty and animal abuse that occur in abattoirs and on factory farms in the UK and elsewhere.
Ditching meat is also one of the best things that you can do for your health and the environment.
