Compassionate Kid: Chris Ware
In recognition of his efforts to help animals, kind-hearted teen Chris Ware has been given a PETA Compassionate Kid Award.
Chris, who lives in Exeter with his family, including two rescued cats, is actively involved in animal rights campaigns. In his next action for animals, the 14-year-old will rollerblade the full length of Exmouth Esplanade in Devon sporting a chicken costume. He’ll be making the 4-mile trip on 29 May from the Marina to Orcombe Point and back again in order to raise money for an Essex animal sanctuary. Last year, he cycled 20 miles to raise nearly £2,500 for an animal sanctuary in Hawaii.
When asked how he felt about receiving the award, he said, “I was really pleased to come back from school and find it was waiting for me. … I’ve been vegan for 7 years. Before that I was vegetarian, but when I found out what happens to chickens and cows I wanted to be vegan straight away. … I don’t like seeing any animals get hurt”.
Chris is an inspiring young person who is making a positive difference in the world. His compassion for animals and his determination to create a better world for them is a wonderful example for other kids – and adults – to follow.
If you know a compassionate kid, you can nominate him or her for an award.
