SOUTH LONDON RESTAURANT REMOVES FOIE GRAS FROM MENU
The Laughing Gravy Makes Ethical Decision Following PETA Appeal
London – After hearing that there’s no humane way to produce foie gras – because the birds used are force-fed several times a day via pipes that are rammed down their throats – The Laughing Gravy, confirmed that it has removed the cruelly produced food from the menu following an appeal by PETA.
“The Laughing Gravy’s decision to stop selling foie gras reflects the wishes of the vast majority of the public, who want to see an end to the sale of this inhumane product in the UK”, says PETA Director Elisa Allen. “PETA hopes any eateries in London still profiting from the abuse of geese and ducks will follow this restaurant’s compassionate example by going foie gras–free.”
To produce the vile pâté, ducks and geese are force-fed several times a day until their livers become diseased and swell to as much as 10 times their normal size. Investigations at foie gras farms have found sick, dead, and dying birds – including some with puncture wounds in their necks caused by feeding pipes. Foie gras production is so abusive that it’s illegal in the UK and more than a dozen other countries.
High-profile people who support PETA’s anti–foie gras campaign include Ralph Fiennes, Ricky Gervais, Dame Vera Lynn, Kate Winslet, and Sir Roger Moore, who narrated PETA’s video exposé of foie gras production.
