HEROIC CAT NABS AWARD FOR PREVENTING HOUSE FIRE
PETA Celebrates Blanco the Cat for Alerting Guardians to Burning Pan
Inverness, Scotland – An Animal Hero Award is on its way from PETA to an Inverness family for Blanco the cat, who likely saved his guardians’ lives just two months after he was adopted. At around 3 am, he frantically meowed, pawed, and scratched at his guardians’ bedside until he was followed downstairs, where a burning pan had been left on the gas hob for hours.
“He must have gone to smell the burning pan and didn’t like it, and realised there was danger”, Blanco’s guardian later theorised. “Cats are amazing.”
“This cat sensed that something was wrong, and he didn’t rest until his new family was safe from what could have become a deadly fire”, says PETA Director Elisa Allen. “His story is an inspiration, and PETA encourages anyone with the ability and resources to care for an animal to save a life by adopting from a local shelter.”
PETA is sending the family a framed certificate and a letter of congratulations, along with a goodie bag of toys for Blanco to enjoy.
