Alicante, Spain – What do buff Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis and stunning British singing sensation Leona Lewis have in common? They are the reigning king and queen of PETA US’ annual Sexiest Vegetarian Alive contest. Now PETA Europe has expanded its own contest to include people who aren’t world-famous yet – although they could be if they were to win – and 30-year-old Alicante resident Conchi Jaquet has beaten hundreds of entrants from across Europe to become one of the eight female finalists.
Conchi is a model and dancer and is applying to be a train hostess. She went vegetarian nine years ago when PETA activists in Rome gave her a video about factory farming and the way that animals are killed for food. Conchi has taken part in the exciting “Running of the Nudes” event, and in her spare time, she volunteers for an animal protection organisation in Alicante. Since adopting a vegetarian diet, Conchi believes that she has tons more energy and a stronger immune system.
“On average, vegetarians are slimmer and healthier than meat-eaters are – and that makes them sexier too”, says PETA Europe Director Robbie LeBlanc. “One look at our radiant line-up of sexy vegetarian finalists and it’s clear that they’re all winners.”

Following four rounds of head-to-head matchups, the winners – who will each spend a weekend in the beautiful Lake District courtesy of the Lancrigg Vegetarian Country House Hotel – will be announced on 2 April.
