PETA’S Sexy Lettuce Ladies Bring Vegan Message To Reading

Reading – PETA’s sexy Lettuce Ladies were out in full foliage in Reading in celebration of World Vegan Month. Wearing nothing but bikini tops and miniskirts fashioned from lettuce leaves, the ladies were on Broad Street today. By distributing leaflets and waving signs reading, “Turn Over a New Leaf: Go Vegan”, they’re hoping to sow the seeds of healthy vegan eating in the minds of Reading’s residents.

The Lettuce Ladies want people to consider that animals on factory farms are intensively bred and housed and kept in cramped, unnatural conditions. Chickens often have the tips of their beaks cut off with a hot wire, and piglets have their tails and the ends of their teeth cut off – often without being given any pain relief. At the abattoir, many animals are not rendered fully unconscious before they are hung upside down, have their throats cut and are bled to death.

What’s more, eating meat has been linked to heart disease, heart attacks, cancer and strokes. Also, a United Nations report stated earlier this year that a global move towards vegan eating is essential to save the world from fuel poverty, hunger, and the worst impacts of climate change.

“Study after study has extolled the benefits of a plant-based diet”, said PETA Lettuce Lady Abi Izzard. “We’re here to let Reading residents know that the best thing they can do for animals, the environment and themselves is to go vegan.”
